  In order to transfer a .UK domain to Tucows, the domain owner must first contact the current Registrar and ask them to change the IPS Tag to “TUCOWS-CA“.  If the current Registrar is unable or unwilling to make the change, please contact Nominet directly (http://www.nominet.org.uk) and they will help make the change.

  When the tag change is completed, please contact your Domain Provider to complete the transfer process.

  In order to transfer your .CO.UK/.ORG.UK domains away from Tucows you must use a Domain Management Interface to change the “IPSTag” information for the domain to the new Registrar the domain should be transferred to.  Once logged into a Domain Management Interface the IPSTag can be changed in the Domain Extras section.

  Nominet requires that changes in domain ownership be handled between the Registrant and Nominet directly.  Your Domain Provider can assist the Registrant, but Tucows itself does not get involved with this process.

  The domain owner will need to complete the transfer form on the reverse of the Domain Name Certificate and submit a letter of authorization on company letterhead.   Full instructions are given on the transfer form itself.  In addition, the person or business the Registrant is transferring the Domain Name to must sign the form and submit a letter of authorization on their own letterhead.   The two signatories of the letters must be different people.

  If the domain owner has misplaced their Certificate for the Domain Name, and they want to transfer the registration to another holder, they may request a transfer form from Nominet at http://www.nic.uk.   Please contact them directly via nominet@nominet.org.uk for the correct procedure.

  An “orphaned” .UK domain is when your CO.UK/.ORG.UK domain name is under the TUCOWS-CA IPS tag but it is not associated with a Domain Provider.

  Tucows is a wholesale domain name Registrar, we do not provide support or service to individual domain owners.  All support and service for your domain name registration must be done through a Domain Provider.
